NEVER PUT A FERRET IN ONE OF THOSE!!! It will be more cruel to make it use it than not to let it out at all! Those ''balls'' force the ferret in an unnatural position and can and WILL give it spine damage. DON'T DO IT! Same thing for rabbits.
I Saw Online They Have Big Balls For Ferrets To Run Around In, Like They Do For Hamsters? Is That Cruel? Or Has Anyone Tried It? I Just Feel Like My Ferrets Would Feel Trapt Or Something. What Do You Think?
I agree, I think my ferrets would absolutely hate it. And I hate that they are sort of comparing them to rodents. Ferrets do not belong in little plastic balls. It would also be uncomfortable because of their long, lanky body shape.
I have actually tried it. I put boh the lids on it and my ferret freaked out. Now he does like to lay around in it and play but as long as its not closed up.
No, no no no no! Ferret "balls" are not good for anything. If you don't have a space for your ferret to run, like a small room, then give up your ferret. Being in the ball is traumatic. They can't poop or pee, and ferrets need to be able to hide if scared. They can also hurt their feet because their toes can get caught in the slats, ripping out toes (I have seen it happen).
My ferrets don't mind it actually. But I have noticed that these run-about-balls can't actually be ran in. Ferrets are too long and their hind quarters are heaver that their front so even if they push it forward they end up falling back.
They can use them but in my experience most ferrets hate them and they end up being a waste of money. Usually you ferret proof/ baby proof a room and let the ferret run around in there under your super vision of course.
I got one for my ferret Scout and put the lid on it so he could try it out, He freaked out he was so scared I couldnt get him out fast enough. However he likes to play in it just without the lid on.
No it is no cruel it is for they to have fun and get hungry to but the main thing is for they to have fun
If you don't have playspace in your home for your ferrets, that it is better than nothing. Ferrets need exercise daily, on average 3 hrs a day. This can be broken up of course. I have never seen what you describe. Ferrets love to explore and I think the ball might be limiting them from that. I would recommend a "play" cage with toys and things to explore inside the cage if you don't have the capacity to let them roam around your home over the ball.
My ferret doesnt like being in a ball...he cries but when you clean there cage its a good thing to have to put them in to it so you don't have to watch them.
