I think I have the answer to my own question. My husband and I used to leave a filled up dog bowl for our dog until he started getting fat. We took away the dog bowl and started monitoring his food. The shaking and panting started. He was probably hypoglycemic from not eating when he wanted to. I put food in front of him and he wouldn't eat. An hour later, he actually got up, ate, and the panting and shivering went away.

You need to get him checked he may have digested something keep trying plenty of fluids theres so much out there that people are unaware of that can seriously harm our dogs

My dog is 161/2 bichon. In the last couple of weeks he quit eating dog food. Now he is even eating very little of meat I prepare. At night he is panting a lot but will only occassionally want water
