Giant Pandas do not eat meat, they almost exclusivley feed on bambo, which is pitifully poor in nutritional value. As a result, they have to eat huge amounts of bamboo daily to survive. A lot of the bamboo forests in China have been destroyed for development and farming, which is the reason Giant Pandas are facing extinction.

Pandas do eat meat, although it forms less than 1% of its diet. They also eat honey, eggs, fish, yams, shrub leaves, oranges, and bananas when available. Bamboo forms 99% of its diet, however.
