You will find ducklings mainly feed on earthworms, snails, insects and insect larve. However their diet changes quite quickly and as early as 14 days the ducklings will eat nearly the same food as the adult ducks do. Depending on the type of duck, this diet can consist of small insects and worms or could be more plant-based.

If you find a baby duck that seems lost and separated from its mother and family and so you think you should take care of it, then you have to be very cautious of what you feed it. Many people think they can feed baby ducks bread but this can do great harm. The bread can actually expand in their throat and mouth and end up choking the duckling to do.

The best thing to do is to call a local rescue or wildlife center immediately. They will know exactly what to do and will come and take it off your hands. If for some reason they can't come for a while then you could try and feed it very small portions of insects and worms. You can use tweezers to hold the food so the duckling can nibble it off. However it is always best to ask the experts for advice before attempting to feed a duckling at all.

They eat bugs in the wild; worms and slugs, etc. If you're raising them you can buy this duckling feed that looks like crumbs its very high in protein. And they have to have access to clean drinking water with some sugar in it when they eat.

The baby ducks require few basic elements to grow healthy. They need a proper brooding area, correct feed and water. Duck starter can be given to feed the baby ducks. Finely chopped fruits and vegetables are given to ducks as they are unable to bite. Ducklings also love small insects and worms but are unable to have grains, bread, onions and seeds.

Ducks are very friendly birds and are kept as pets for their meat and eggs. Baby ducks can barely swim properly and they spend most of the time on land. The food and water needs to be given at intervals. The ducks are a species of the Antidae family of birds and are mostly aquatic birds.

I just found a baby duck, he's not eating the crushed corn yet because it's too hard for his beak, but he seems keen on eating soggy bread crumbs, I'll probably stop at a feed store later today to see what is recommended.

Normally they will eat small seeds and insects. If you are raising them at home a high protein chicken starter will work.

A good High protein food that they absolutely love is boiled eggs, mashed very fine and sprinkle a few minute oats in with them to make them more like granules.
