at one point, I found a site that claimed that there are four venomous spiders that live in the US, though when I tried to do a google search for venomous spiders in the US, only two come up--the black widow and the brown recluse (having the ability to cause death in humans). Being in Alaska, you can rule out the brown recluse--and it's the wrong coloration anyway. As for the black widow, I don't know if it lives in Alaska or not, but it would be black with a red hourglass marking on it.
