If you take the average adult and the average dog there is no contest! Dogs are much faster but as with humans some are much faster than others. Certain breed such as greyhounds are breed for speed and are very fast. Farm dogs can run around all day having lots of energy also.
As a dog becomes older it tends to slow up but I know some collies who can still run and chase
at 15 years old. In humans of equivalent age many can not run even a short way .
My dog would love to catch a squirrel but they are much faster than her and can quickly run up a tree. She would never hurt one ,she is just fascinated by them!
