I think you can find toads just about anywhere. This is right about the time where you would start seeing little baby toads popping up in your garden. There are probably many ways they could have found their way into your backyard. Somebody's pet toad laid eggs nearby after escaping. Someone bought a nursery plant that had a toad eggs in it, etc. I found this article and it sounds similar to your situation: www.choosingvoluntarysimplicity.com
Quinto's explanation sounds reasonable to me. Makes sense to me.

So this means toads don't start out as tadpoles and the eggs don't have to constantly be in water. Interesting. Learning something new everyday! Thanks for your help.
There might be a small creek near by and the tadpoles where washed out of a pond or lake during a big rain storm and ended up near you.
I have the same problem very peculiar
Toads are looking for a safe place to live I to get toads in my yard and there is no water they are basically looking for a place to live. Water or no water!
