Here's how you tell female and male lovebirds apart (short of doing a medical exam). Hens are sturdier, will bite harder, and have a duller color then the males. When females sit on a perch, their legs are spread further apart. The nesting activity is stronger in females, and males will usually sit outside the nest in the daytime. The females will more aggressively protect their territory and are more dominant.

If both birds are spending the same amount of time in the nest, then you probably have two females and not a set. There is no conclusive way to tell unless they start laying eggs, so you can either wait, get a male lovebird, or take them to your local vet who can tell. If you see them mating, don't assume that they're a male and female, as same sex lovebirds will sometimes go through the mating ritual as well, which can be quite confusing.
