I have a rhode island red chick and it was walking fine until about a week ago and I can't figure out why but it is eating and drinking normally and has a foot that is working better than the other. I also had another rhode island red chick that had the same problem but randomly started walking a week to a week and a half later and is fine now but when it was sick I put the other rhode island red chick in with it so it wouldnt be lonely and that is when the other one started having problems. Do you think it is just a short illness that will pass or something more serious? Or do rhode island reds just have a growth problem when they are chicks maybe passed down from their parents? Please tell me if you know.

Your chicken is suffering from Marek's Disease if it is losing its weight as well. It is a type of cancer. Observe your chicken closely. I think it is not vaccinated. Take it to vet and vaccinate all your chickens today. It is very important. This disease is very common worldwide and hard to cure when once a chicken catches this fatal disease.

I read your comment about having a chicken vaccinated for a disease such Marek's Disease. I have to let you know that I also have a chicken with the same problem of standing. For the last 3 years she's had this problem and has lost all of her toes. She eats normally, drinks normally and is active and chipper when I walk into the coup to feed and water her every day. Now that it's winter and closing on spring she's loosing feathers around the upper side of her thighs. In the summer I let her out
