Mine is about 7 kilogrammes, and is a fair bit bigger than a shi tzu. He's only 7 months old, so I'm not sure how much longer he'll keep growing for.

Shi Tzu is a popular dog breed that originated from China. They are considered as the oldest and smallest of the Tibetan holy dogs. They are friendly and lively so they are very good with kids. There are many variations of this breed but the ideal height of Shi Tzu is 9 to 10 1/2 inches. The dog should not be less than 8 inches and not more than 11 inches tall. The dog should be solid and compact, and must carry good weight according to its size range. As official standard they must weigh 9 to 16 pounds.

I have had a Shi Tzu for 5 years now... He tends to beef up with his weight with age. He is broad across the chest. He weighs about 23 lbs... He is better with children that are a little older (I have a daycare and a wide age range). He likes babies and over 5 years old. Those toddler years were tough on him. He is wonderful. Friendly and lovable. All of the kids and parents love him to pieces...
