Can Wasp Sting Cause Bruising?

I was stung by either a bee or a wasp or a hornet three days ago on my thigh, and it hurt most of the day. It also created a huge red patch on my leg that itches and has begun bruising today. I'm not sure if it's a result of the sting itself or from me itching it, but I don't believe I've itched it hard enough to create this bruise. I also have never had this reaction to a sting before, and I was stung twice on my cheek just a month ago. I went to work later that day and no one could even tell I had been stung. I'm beginning to worry...

I was stung by a yellow jacket a couple days ago. I didn't realize it at first. I woke from sleep witha terrible pain in my right arm below my elbow. The next day a bad bruise developed on my arm. Today I felt and looked at the bruise closely and saw a bite mark on my arm and felt the stinger still in the spot! I pulled it out and cleaned the area with soap and water. I went into my bathroom to get some bacitracin and found a yellow jacket dying in the bathroom!!! Well! I helped it along and then flushed it down the toilet!! So now I found out what had stung me!! The bruise was getting bigger and bigger! Probably because the stinger was still in me!! Hopefully now that it's outit will start going down! It hurts like h***!!! Kathleen Z
