Yes. Many types of sharks live in the outer banks such as thresher sharks, mako sharks, nurser sharks, hammerhead sharks, and some reports of even great white sharks. Do not worry though, aslong as you take caution and don't swim at night or in murky waters, you'll be fine because most sharks are active at night, and rarely at day.
