The fastest four-legged animal is cheetah. This is a kind of leopard. It can run in the speed of 70 miles per hour. The black-buck takes the second position of honour with the speed of about 65 miles per hour. The third position is of course achieved by two animals - the Mongolian gazelle and the Pronghorn antelope with a speed of about 60 miles per hour.

This is a fact that there are plenty of animals around the world which can reach a great speed, but they can do that for only a limited period of time. They are unable to maintain at this position for longer duration of time. Examples include the speed of lion, the king of the jungle, which is about 50 miles per hour while chasing the prey, but lion is unable to sustain it for a longer period of time. It seems that a deer can run very fast, but its speed can reach about 45 to 50 miles at the maximum.

Elephant, on the other hand, may reach at the speed of about 25 miles per hour. And last but not the least to mention, we, humans, can run 22 to 25 miles per hour at the maximum as per record says, but this speed we also cannot maintain for a long time.
