Nama Karoo is a semi-desert region in Africa. It is also known as the Great Karoo. It is located in the south of Africa. Due to the desert's extreme weather, you shall find only endemic animals such as scorpions, lizards, spiders and snakes. You will also find some turtles near some water area. Another reason for no other animals is the lack of vegetation and plants. You will also find some gohawks flying around the desert. It is also said that dinosaurs once ruled this place. The area is approximately 400,000 square kilometres. The word 'Karoo' comes from an African word known as dry, because of its climate.
