Animalia is nothing but the scientific kingdom to which all animals belong. This colossal group of organisms even includes the most advanced animal of them all- humans.

Animals are found all over the surface of planet earth. They may be found living on land or even in water. For instance, humans inhabit dry land and fish live in water. Wild animals like lions and tigers may prefer to live in forests. Birds usually nest in trees.

Animals vary immensely with regard to size, shape, lifespan, diet, preferred habitat, and so on and so forth. However it is safe to state that most animals are multi-cellular, responsive to their environment, feed by consuming other organisms and are capable of locomotion at some point of their life cycle.

Animalia is the plural of the Latin word animal which in turn is derived from the word anima which means soul or breath.
