The difference between extinct and endangered is that extinct means the specie that is extinct is completely gone forever, most of the time because of humans from pollution or from hunting, and endangered means that there are a few of the specie left but they are nearly extinct.

Extinct means it does not exist any more.  Endangered means dangerously close of not being any more.
