Well, I've been researching for when I'm getting my hamster in a hour today, (I've been researching for 3 days) I've learned that you could tell by the hairs on the ears. If it's white, they're about a couple months to 1 year old. If it's black, then it's older than a year old. Hope it helped. :)

If you look at the hamsters teeth if they are long and white/brown they are around 1-2 1/2 years old if they have short white teeth they are 1 day to 1 year old. If they have short brown teeth they are still 1- 1/12 years old but are not looked after properly... Hope this helped

Seeing how small in size. If it is about 2 inches it should be a couple months if it is almost five inches or more it could be a year or older.

The average life span of a hamster is 1.5 years.  It is very hard to tell how old a hamster is especially after it reaches maturity which happens fast.  Decreased activity and onset of health issues may be clues your hamster is older.
