I've been using Flexi brand retractable leashes for about 20 years now and find them to be the best. I've had a couple of other brands that just didn't last. I use one on my 25 lb dog now and have used them on my over 100 pound dogs with no problems or breakage at all.
This site has the top rated five on the market. You may have to click it a couple of times as they throw an ad in pretty quick but I got to the site itself. Also, Amazon has quite a few of them and they are all rated.

Unless your dog is well trained I would recommend not getting a retractable leash, dogs can easily go onto the road and get hit by a car because you have no control over them.
