No, I've never had one to bark when the phone rings, but I used to have a neighbor who's dog would paw the phone off the hook when it would ring!

Yup. But she doesn't bark at the phone, she comes and barks at me as though she's saying, "Get off your fat backside and talk to somebody." What surprised me was the speed she learned that. It seemed to take only a few phone calls.
She has also put the kibosh on family arguments. If Mrs Didge and I are having harsh words (hard to believe, I know) she stands next to her and barks at me. It guarantees that every argument ends up in fits of laughter.
