I just found out my beloved 10 year old dog has bone cancer and has less than three months to live. Any ideas on how to make her last days the best they can be?
I am so, so sorry you got such awful news. Go online and look for support groups for canine cancers. They can be a wealth of information and compassion. Look for holistic aids to help. And remember when they give you a timeline it is just a best guess. I had a dog they told me had days to live with a different type of cancer. After crying for the first few days, and he was just as happy as usual I got busy doing research. After changing his routine, adding supplements he lived for 20 more months, and most of his days were good ones. Please realize that 20 months is not the norm, but small changes can make big differences.
My heart goes out to you and your pup. Give her a hug and let her do as many fun things that she enjoys. (For my boy that was car rides with the top down.) Remember she doesn't know how sick she is, so let her be happy, and try to be happy around her.
That's so sad! I'm sorry. Love on her as much as you can, give her treats, play with her. I know how you feel 2 years ago, one of my dogs died of cancer. It was awful.
Best thing to do is give her all the love you can and feed her anything she wants. My last Basset Hound got everything he could ever want before he passed. Steaks? Whatever. Just make her as comfortable as you can and spend all the time with her that you can. Like a man, the way to her heart is through her stomach ! At least my last Basset went happily and fat ! Take care !
So sorry, Dragon Fly. All you can really give her is love ... And her favourite food, of course.
Our little dog is almost 16 and is just beginning to deteriorate, so I understand just how you feel. We're spoiling her rotten.
Awe, I'm sorry to hear this. Give her lots of calming and soothing words and spoil her as much as you can. Food, gentle massages and hugs.
