Well, you might not believe this but there are actually doggy diapers for exactly this kind of thing :-)
I'm not kidding, they are readily available in most countries. My friend got some for her dog when she was in heat, but I hadn't heard of them before either.
Okay, it does seem strange, but it makes sense in a way and stops the mess.
Your dog will look completely stupid for a while of course, but your house will be clean at least!
If you aren't planning on breeding her though, you might want to think about getting her spayed. Not only does it stop all the mess, it's also better for her and can prevent 'nasties' later in her life such as cancer.
It also means that all the boy dogs in the neighbourhood won't follow her around, and it will give back the dignity that the diapers will take away.
