Is it okay to wash a kitten with ivory soap? I know they clean themselves well, but hes been in the garage awhile, I'd just like to make him cleaner.

My doc suggested

Using for example 1/2 ounce to an ounce of cat shampoo or baby shampoo to a empty salad dressing container fill rest with warm (not too hot / not too cold) water, to dilute the soap. A little soap goes a long way. An this will cut down the time for rinsing him off.

Also I have used my own shampoo / conditioner mix diluted and my cat didn't receive any skin irritations.

Rince him off well
