Ii found it that when I had a knock on the door, my dog would simply run and block me from even opening the door. I found that the best way to stop this excitement is to get the person visiting, to not look at the dog, as they seem to think that they have simply come to play with the dog. The more he is ignored, the more he will get the message!
This may seem cruel, but then if you shout or even tel them off, then that is a negative reaction but nevertheless, its still a reaction. Just like a child, any attention is good attention. This works just as well for toilet training. When my dog had gone to the toilet in the house, I simply opened the back door clicked my fingers and pointed outside. I didnt even look at my dog, I just kept on clicking until he got the message!!
Its that easy!
L you can do is try give it a week at the, it worked for me after ust a few days, its just a matter o persistence. It isn't for everybody, but this I found worked best for me and it also doesnt make the dog scared of you, just scared of toileting in the house. Give it a whirl, I hope this gives you the success it gave to me.
