Male dogs, especially unneutered male dogs, will mark their territory. They should not however lick themselves excessively. Also if the increased urination is a new behavior this is a sign something is wrong. Your dog needs to be examined by a veterinarian to screen for urinary tract infections, bladder stones, trauma, and medical conditions like kidney disease, liver disease, and diabetes.
