The jersey giant is a good cold weather bird. The hens have small combs which are not as
likely to suffer frost bite. They are tame, lay a nice size brown egg. Also you can look at
others such as Wyandottes, Dominiques, Buckeye (a good free range hardy chicken)
Plymouth Rock, and the Rhode Island Red. Try to keep the coop the size to match the
size of the flock. A heat lamp is nice or a large bulb. An electric defroster for the water
