Mine is doing the same thing! Did she survive? What did you do? We've had some uncharacteristic subfreezing weather, so we have her inside. Do you think it's related? She's still active and eating fine, though.
There is a possibility that she is just tired during her moult, also, she (I think it's called this) could have either Marek's Disease or Newcastle disease, either way, I think you need to ask a specialist for advice unless she has stopped doing it now
I have 39 years chicken raising. This is a common question. Your chicken could seem off balance by an obstruction in its foot, stress, age, feed,or general health. Also if it was out in the cold it could have frostbite(which you will notice by about two weeks when its feet get smaller and black and it can't move its toes) but it sounds like it could be meriks disease. I recommend raising White plymouth rocks tho because they are VERY cold hardy.and they lay a large brown egg. I also recommend shopping at Meyer Hatchery for your poultry needshttp://meyerhatchery.com
She will be fine I had one do it
