You can look in the classifieds section of the newspaper! They are not free at Porter County Animal Shelter in Valparaiso, but for $35 you get to choose a cat and if not spayed already, you get a voucher for the spay. They also have a foster option to let you take the animal home for 10 days to see if it will work out with your family before you make the decision to adopt or not.
