Whelp means young offspring of dog or wolf and whelping means process of birth of whelps or puppies. Whelping in dogs occurs after 59-68 days of pregnancy with an average of 63-65 days. Whelping in dogs can be complicated and life threatening for both mother and puppies. So, only experienced breeders should go for whelping by themselves, otherwise, get help from the vet.
Whelping is term used for birth process in mammals. During this process babies are born. This does not include signs of labor but it is related with true labor and delivery or actual birth of the babies including removal of the placenta from the uterus.
