It’s usually quite easy to tell if a bee’s stinger is embedded in your skin or not: If it’s there, you should be able to see it.

What Does A Bee Stinger Look Like?
A bee stinger, if it’s stuck in the wound, will usually look like a small, dark splinter.

It’s unusual for the stinger to disappear completely under the skin, so you should be able to see something sticking out!

How Do I Get A Bee Stinger Out Of My Skin?
  • Wash and clean the area, and apply some bicarbonate of soda to the wound to neutralize the sting. This should stop it hurting so much.
  • You can try gently squeezing the sting, and the stinger should just pop out by itself.
  • If it doesn’t, or if it seems to be stuck, use some tweezers to pluck the stinger out of your wound. It’ll hurt less if you do this quickly, as you would if you were plucking your eyebrows.
Most of the time, the stinger won’t get stuck in your skin. If it does, and you haven’t been able to get it out, try not to worry too much - it’ll work its way out eventually.

Sometimes, bee stingers can remain inside the bite site completely or partially.

To know this, examine the bite site keenly. Intact stingers are usually visible with the naked eye.

You can also try to feel the stinger by touching the bite site with your finger, and remove it if present.

After removing the stinger, apply hydrocortisone cream and take anti-allergy medicine.
