I believe they can. I believe any insect can bite. Also I didn't think Lady bugs bite, but they do.
As for fruit flies and gnats I think they bite. I'm sick of gnats. They're all over outside my house and coming in as well. I read that apple cider vinegar attracts them so I put it all over my house and the next day I came in and said what is that oder? My husband said he thinks its that stuff I put out. Ha and it was but it is attracting some gnats.
