The oldest giant turtle ever to live was Addyaita who was 250 years old when he expired at a Kolkata Zoo on March 24th, 2006.

Turtles, Tortoises and Terrapins basically are reptiles coming from the order Testudines, most of whose body is covered by a unique bony or cartilaginous shell which grows from their ribs. The arrangement Testudines comprise of both existing as well as extinct species, the initial turtles being recognized more than 250 million years ago, making turtles one of the ancient reptile groups as compared to lizards and snakes.

There are approximately 300 species living till date out of it some of them an extremely endangered. Turtles are said to be ectothermic or cold-blooded, which basically means that their body temperature alters according to their surroundings.
