My dog is only 25 pounds so she doesn't take over the bed. She sleeps right up against me and at some point in the middle of the night, she ends up sleeping above my head on my pillow. I always wake up with either her paw, tail, butt or head on top of my head. I don't think I could sleep without her in bed with me.

Nah. She has claimed her own space on the lounge but we've kept her out of the bedrooms.

Mind you, one night I forgot to close the kitchen door and she woke me up next morning tiptoeing up my bed. Yeah, really. Tiptoeing. She has this guilty look on her face as though saying, "I'm not going to be in trouble, am I?"

No, not take over in that sense as Grace is too small.

Looks as you need more bed or less dog (unthinkable!) Rooster!

We have two bichon cross dogs .. And a king size bed .. And a bad back .. From sleeping in a postage stamp size corner of the bed .. Because THEY take up so much of freek'n  room .. But I guess I'm pretty fortunate they let me sleep in it at all

But, look at that face .. so peaceful with his head on the pillow .. sometimes I get to use my pillow, if I can push one of my boys over just enough to sneek a corner of the pillow .. problem is, when I move one of them .. they immediately roll over on their back because they think now they get a belly rub .. I can't win!

From the beginning I didn't allow Keokee on any furniture, including the bed.  I'm really glad I did that as she sheds SOOOO MUCH!!!!  I vacuum up tons of fur every week.

Part of what fascinates me about dogs is that most have no "personal space" (that 18 inches that most humans require) at which point a dog might otherwise might otherwise move away from me.

The amount of trust they have in me is fascinating to contemplate---and I revel in the philosophical ramifications of that.

So, not exactly "take over"---but only because I put up minimal resistance at best.

I am the oddball here. I am thinking GERMS and inhaling HAIR! Oh it is just a gross thought! There is only one animal I allow in the bed with me and he is the two legged kind! Lol!

I was searching for an mental image. Closest I could come up with was "aseptic Sphinx cat."

I've decided to skip the mental image and just stick with your words at their face value.

I share my bed with two dogs. One weighs 65 lbs and the other 72. They are both bed hogs are on my side of the king size bed. I will be sleeping on the other side tonight. Hubby snores and tosses and turns more than the two dogs combined, so he sleeps in another room.
