There is talk of reintroducing the Lynx to Great Britain, to assist in the management of the exploding deer population. Is this a good idea? What will the sheep farmers do to protect their livestock?

Any time you get humans involved in "controlling" nature, there is always a catastrophe waiting to happen. 20 years from now, what is Great Britain going to do to cull the overwhelming population of Lynx?
There's got to be a better way, what that is, I'm not sure.

It may work out but then in time they'll have to worry about the Lynx population. It will grow and grow till it's a problem. The sheep farmers will have a real problem as the Lynx is pretty aggressive and will attack sheep also. Have they ever thought about having a hunt to thin the deer population down? I know they do that here on occasion and most of the meat goes to the needy and such. Bringing the Lynx back may help for a while but then you're going to have to deal with the Lynx in time. Open hunting season in a small country like yours seems like a more viable option.

Might be worth it to hire a group of professional hunters with their own rifles for a time to help cull the population. I just think the Lynx will be the next problem. You know how cats breed.

Shotguns are no good and neither are dogs. They should just advertise for some qualified Yanks to come do it. Before you can have a rifle here, there is Hunter's Safety Courses they must pass. Let the Government screen the hunters well and that might work out. Bringing wolves back will also create a problem in time.
