A couple time a year, my dog gets a bad case of dandruff and her fur looks very dry. I use an Omega 3 oil supplement made specifically for dogs. A few drops in her food daily for about a week clears it up.

That would depend on what is wrong with the coat. Usually adding fish oil and vitamin e can do wonders. 200 mg of fish oil for every 10 lbs. Your dog weighs and 100 iu of vitamin e for up to 50 lbs., 200 iu if your dog is 50-100 lbs. And 300 iu for over 100 lbs, If you do not see an improvement in two weeks, take your dog to the vet have blood work down, including the thyroid level.

Thanks for the very informative input. I googled and I discovered Bonnie & Clyde Wild Omega 3 Fish Oil (http://bncpet.com/). Seems that they have a good product. Non GMO, with the right proportion of Omega 3 and Omega 6, natural Vit. E which I believe is very important since a lot of Vit. E are synthetic.

As much as possible, I don't want to visit the vet since it's stressful for me and my dog. Then there's virgin coconut oil that seems to be very effective for dogs' coat. I will do additional research on your inputs. Thanks so much for helping.

You can use vitamin supplements made for dogs, I always gave my dog eggs....seeing as I raised chickens at the time, eggs were plentiful....I'd just break one on the ground and they'd eat it right up. The dogs coat always looked nice and shiny.
