The grasshopper has three Ocelli which are also known as the simple eyes. Of these three Ocelli, One is median or located in the middle of the insect’s head while the other two are located at the side, that is, are lateral. The purpose of these eyes is just to detect the presence of light and what is its intensity,  they do not actually help in viewing things. These are very simple as well as small lenses. All there of these are situated between the compound eyes that help in seeing things.
