If you have a pet turkey, you are probably not an 'average Joe', so why should you give your pet turkey an average name? Use your imagination and come up with a name that is fun and entertaining, and one that will amuse your friends and family.

Funny Names for Pet Turkeys
Perhaps the most common name for people who have pet turkeys is 'Tom'. Tom Turkey was portrayed in several cartoons back in the day. He was usually trying to find a way to lay low during the Thanksgiving season in order not to wind up on a person's dinner plate.

If the name 'Tom' is not your cup of tea, consider a name such as 'Belvedere'. This name oozes Old English charm and style, and a strutting turkey will appreciate being named after an English gent.

If you have a female turkey, there are a host of names you can choose from. If she's a hefty size, you might want to consider the name 'Bertha'. Bertha is the ideal name for a plump, juicy turkey that would look great on your table on Thanksgiving afternoon as you graze and check out all of the day's football games.

Another great female name for a turkey is 'Hilda'. Hilda is a great German name that evokes images of beautiful women with frosty beer mugs in hand, the dream of every man. It is also a name that shows character, and is sure to be a name that everyone will remember when they come to your home.

If you are quirky enough that you have a pet turkey, turn away from the ordinary and embrace some fun and good times. Pick a fun and easy to remember name that your friends and family are sure to love.

My mom and her siblings had a pair of turkeys as pets for awhile when she was a kid. They called them 'Tom' and 'Tillie'. But since that's the actual name of a famous male and female turkey, I think it's a little corny.

I'm getting a Royal Palm tom and am considering 'Domitan', 'Keokuk', 'Noble', 'Timothy', or 'Nye'. 'Keokuk' is the Americanized form of a Sauk name that means "one who moves about alert", which certainly describes a turkey!

This is so cool! I considered a number of names for my new pet turkey - he is a month old. The breed is called 'Bourbon Red', so 'Whiskey' seemed appropriate!

I have had a white turkey in the past called 'Shasta', who grew to be about the size of my washing machine before he died. Way back in the '70s, my kids called our one bronze turkey that didn't make it to the dinner table 'Dusty'.

'Daisy Mae' or 'Dixie Lee'. Actually those are the names I wanted to name my last child, but he was a boy. So if I ever get a turkey, I'd use one of those names.
