It all depends on the dog and the cat and how you introduce them take them to a neutral territory some where neither would know or recognise (enclosed space) then with dog very secure on lead let the cat wander the room allowing it to approach the dog if it wish but only if it wishes. Try feeding them together but still watching so they get used to one another company. Do this for several weeks and create a routine for them. They should soon settle down
