What other symptoms your dog is showing? Many oral conditions and some other diseases can cause bad breath in dogs. These are inflammation of gums, abscessed tooth or teeth, periodontitis, mouth ulcers, foreign materials like bone or hair stuck in mouth, mouth and lung cancer and kidney diseases. If your dog is having bad breath along with other signs of general illness like drooling, difficulties in eating and swallowing, drooling etc then it is medical emergency that requires vet visit for differential diagnosis and proper treatment.

Dogs can get cold but their cold is not like common cold in humans. Symptoms of cold in dogs are coughing, sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. These symptoms can be due to upper respiratory tract infection caused by bacteria or virus. As many types of infections can cause flu like symptoms in dogs, So, differential diagnosis is required for appropriate treatment. So, it will be better to take your dog to vet.
