No, it's not true that dogs only see in black and white. There have been a number of different rumours as to how dogs see the world - the most popular of which is that they are only able to see monochrome colors.

However, scientific tests have proven that dogs do see in color, but have a more limited color spectrum than humans. It's also been proven that dogs use color to distinguish between objects, as we do.
