I just had my third litter of pups and every time they have been healthy at birth. The biggest thing for the mother is during pregnancy is feeding them puppy food for the extra vitamins
I, from day one have cooked for my dogs. Chicken or liver, brown rice, veggies such as tomatoes, carrots, green peppers, etc.a lot of people look down on feeding the dogs bones, but the marrow inside and the gristle is very good for them. As long as the chicken bone is not over cooked, it will not splinter. I try to do this at least once a day. Non processed and fresh food is always best for them. I also keep regular dry food out during the day. Before, I gave her vet approved vitamins. I read once, not to give them vitamins during, because it throws their calcium level off, however on my females first littler I did and the pups and she were fine.
