It can be any number really, the norm is 4 per litter.

Average is 4 to 8 but can be less or more. A breeder would find out about that sort of thing during their standard prenatal care. There is more about that and breeding and whelping basics information and links for you below. Second link is Am. Staff breed parent club.

The average litter size for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is 4 puppies, although I've known Staffs to have as few as 2 pups or as many as 10.
 
Bottom line; if you're intending to breed your Staff, always OVER prepare.
