Has the vet down a skin scrape on its leg, if it is mites he will know by doing this and then the cat can be washed in a shampoo to kill the mites that you can get from the vets, don't buy store stuff, they don't work!

It could have mites, there like fleas but they make hair fall out and you cat may be biting to stop itching.
Or your cat could be weird and likes the taste of hair.
