These animals are predators, and they eat all types of plankton and also fish, that they catch near or upon the bottom of the ocean or rivers.  Plankton consists of any drifting organisms (animals, plants, archaea, or bacteria) that inhabit the pelagic zone of oceans, seas, or bodies of fresh water.
