I live at the beach and my property abuts an inlet of salt water. This morning, much to my surprise, I notices a very large beaver come out of the water and start eating some small bark from tiny trees. I didn't think that beavers could like in salt water. Do they?????

Beavers can live in brackish water and salt water for a period of time. Through their damming activities they will eventually convert the salt water behind the dam to fresh.

We are experiencing a lot of flooding and when my son and I got home we had a big beaver in our yard.  I thought it was a dog swimming but it came ashore and we are watching him,  there is nothing but salt water here.  The Chesapeake Bay, Mobjack  Bay and York River surround our property.  We do have a lot of swamp land, but I can't figure out where this beaver even came from,  this is all salt water.  I am worried about rabies but we were about maybe 2 foot from it and it just sat there on the sandy bank.  I really don't know if it is lost or what.
