Does anyone else's dog besides mine sleep totally under the covers all night? (That's what he wanted to do from the moment I adopted him)

My dog doesn't like covers on her. If I put covers on her, she will get up and go somewhere else to sleep.

I think it would be nice to have your dog snuggle with you under the covers :)

Yes it is nice and he's a cute one. Sometimes he wraps his front legs around my lower leg and makes all these squeaky noises while he snuggles in for the night. Their front legs are real long compared to their body. I thought he must be cold so I bought him a little dog t-shirt and he just went nuts when I tried to put it on him , so we stick with blankets and lap blankets.ip I just left your comment to this under

Yep. Mine sleeps under the covers and shares my pillow. One good thing is that she always faces away from me, which is good, I don't have dog breath in my face.

Good point . Maybe she's facing away from you because she doesn't want YOIR BREATH in HER FACE ! Ever think about that Fred? Lol

I don't have a dog, but I have two cats. One will sleep with my son, if there's room on the bed (it's a twin bed and the kitty cat is "big-boned"). The other kitty sleeps with me on a towel next to my head. I guess she likes to talk to me during the night when she can't sleep. Or she will stand on me to get my attention.

My first kitty did like to sleep under the covers. It was a scream to make the bed because she didn't like to get out from underneath the blankets. There was a lot of pouncing and a lot of vocal complaining on her part. It was like Groundhogs Day each day as she couldn't remember from day to day that I would make the bed and have to chase her out of it!

One of mine will if it is cold, but not usually. I also keep warm throws on the bed for them both to sleep on. I also know a couple of people with dachunds whose dogs do that.

Mine is an Italian Greyhound and he has no fur so I guess he gets cold. He's right here under the covers right now next to me.

I had 4 dogs (shi tzus) the oldest one would sleep under the covers, she'd crawl under the covers and go all the way to the foot of the bed. We lost 2 of them last year, and I have 2 left of them the older one sleeps with me and she takes a pillow for herself, and does not like the covers.

I just wonder why they do that. I think it is instinct from being in packs maybe ? And then why do some like it and some don't ....I know wild dogs are known to sleep under leaves and hay and such.
I want to say I am sorry you lost two of your dogs last year. I lost my Bella dog last year -she was my best friend. She would wake me if I was having a nightmare by pressing her front paws in a slight soft hitting motion on my chest until I woke up -so she would wake me out of my nightmares. Amazing dog.

My last two Basset hounds loved to burrow under the covers and sleep and snore away! The one I have now just likes to sleep on top of the bed and doesn't want anything to do with covers over him. Guess some do and some don't ! LOL.

See? More dogs that like to burrow . I think it's a natural thing from their ancestors- maybe for warmth or a protective instinct to hide from other animals and then others don't like it and they actually feel threatened to be covered up . Thanks for answering Cowboy :)
