The Kurdish horse is one of the oldest breeds of horses from Iran and it is relatively small. Kurdish horses can reach a maximum height of 150 centimeters but are generally smaller. The specialty of this breed is that the hoses are very hardy, resilient and tough and this makes them especially suited for traveling in the mountains. They are used mostly as a means of transportation in the mountains. There are three different strains within this breed that are known as Sanjabi, Jaff and Afshari
