Yes, they are!  The ruby-throated hummingbird migrates even as far as Chicago and usually comes from the area around the Gulf of Mexico.  You'll see them most times in late April, early May, with the males arriving first.  They migrate back to the south in September, again with the males leaving first, and usually the females are gone within the following two weeks.
