At eight weeks of age a puppy is just beginning to wean away from their mother. It is hard to get a good grasp on exactly how much they will weigh as an adult at this time. But if you know the breed of dog you have, you may make a pretty close guess just by looking at their parents. A puppy that weighs around 9 lbs at eight weeks of age in most cases will weigh somewhere around 25 lbs or so at adulthood. German Shepard pups for example may weigh around 20 lbs at the age of eight weeks and often grow into adult dogs that weigh in excess of 50 lbs.
