Dogs can get many types of worms like heartworm, roundworm, tapeworm, whip worm, hookworm, flea tape worm, etc. Ideally, dogs should be worms during pregnancy. This will not allow transmission of worms in to unborn puppies.

Nursing dogs should also be wormed because puppies are more prone to get worm infestation from the mother. Now safe medicines for worms are available that can be used in pregnant and nursing dogs. Majority of the owners are not professional and don't know which medicines are safe and have less side effects. Only vets are professional and can help you a lot. So, if your dog is nursing and you want to treat worm infestations then get advice from vet.

I would still recommend pet herbal products to de-worm your canine. If testing for herbal products is an issue, you could try out standardized pet herbal remedies to help inhibit intestinal parasites and promote digestive system balance. The natural ingredients formulated into herbal products won't trigger side effects nor impair pet immune defenses that makes it a sustainable treatment for intestinal worms and other parasites.

I think you should go for some natural remedy in the form of herbal medicine that shows no side effects later. I suggest you Worm-Out that is a medicine in powder form to de worm the canine. But if you want something else then show it to a vet who suggest you something after examining it personally and thoroughly and tell you what to use after knowing its body chemistry.

If you care about the safety of your dog, don't risk untested herbal products. The safest thing to do is to take a stool sample to the vet , and let the vet provide a safe, effective remedy for the type of worms if any your dogs has.
