What Does Alligator Taste Like?

It depends on the farm and the way it's cooked: Sometimes it tastes fishy, sometimes it tastes a lot like poultry (which is to say, doesn't taste like much at all). No matter what it has a chewy sort of texture and looks like dark meat (chicken leg, wing). The best way to try it if you're wary is with Cajun-style sauce piquante, which can cover the flavor if you're not too keen (-:

Alligator tastes nothing like chicken. I've had it many times and it tastes like a really chewy tenderloin.

I imagine it depends where the alligator lived and its diet. I've eaten South American alligator and the tail meat tastes like fish with the consistency of "chicken" and the body meat is more chewy and dark.
